MODERN PATCHWORK BLANKET
Note: this pattern has been fully updated for clarity! :) Enjoy! Perfect for a baby shower!
* I used 7oz skeins of worsted weight yarn for a baby blanket 32x42inch
1 skein light grey
1 skein dark grey
1 skein pink
less than 1 skein white
Modern Patchwork pattern. Includes 3 hip square blocks and pretty border instructions. The hello kitty square is *not my pattern*. FREE written and charted instructions can be found by searching "hello kitty granny square" online.
You can use this pattern to create the blanket to your liking. It has square motifs joined and finished with a granny border.
To get the little white floofs on the last 2 photos, use a pompom yarn. Work an SC round with your normal yarn, working over the string parts of the pompom yarn. and make sure to keep pompoms to the front of the work.
This blanket is so fun, you can think of it as an adventure. Whether you create a blanket with different variations on the same square, or mix up your square patterns, this guide gives you three versatile blocks to choose from. Use squares that make 20-21 stitches per side, you can add in any square design you like! Squares are all completed in advance. Then squares are joined with my version of whip stitch for the same look as in the finished photos. A simple border is then added to finish the piece.
I have made this blanket many times. Find more inspiration here:

LOVE this pattern!! I just finished up a blue version for my boss who’s due in June and I could not be happier with it. My only issue was with the chevron stripe squares (as you can see, I swapped them for flowers), and I don’t necessarily think it was an issue with the pattern itself - most likely it was maker error on my end lol! I just couldn’t get them the right size - even with blocking, they were coming out WAY bigger than my other squares. But the pattern is still BEYOND beautiful and I’m even in the process of making a larger version! This size is perfect for a “cuddly”, so now I’m making one big enough to wrap baby in (: (Stylecraft Special DK used)

The pattern is beautiful, but I was disappointed with the description of the pattern; lacking visual aid and hard to follow. If you are an experience crocheter and happy to follow only a very short description of the work without pictures then it is great. If you need visual support and/or more detailed step by step guide, then this patter will be hard to follow and may not be for you.
